Nearly the middle of May and we had snow yesterday and windy all day and night gusting to 80 km. The TV satelite is getting wobblier and wobblier from the frequent battering of wind and snow. Next clear day I'm going to lean out the window and tighten its nuts and screws. That's not been done all winter, since October at least!

Listening to Bartok's Mikrokosmos tonight. A welcome relief from reading world news: an expected and predictably intelligent variety of musical styles played flawlessly on the piano, simplicity +, like a lead pencil and notebook after a surfeit of colourful webpages. Many a time I've tried to play these pieces but always at some point my unexercised fingers can't keep up with my voracious sightreading.

Someday I'll actually learn the set instead of merely browsing. Perhaps this September I'll set to work and let the 187 school days of the school year pass by with a scheduled attack on the 153 pieces.

Everytime I listen to the whole series I find new surprises - "Have I heard that piece before?" I ask myself.
